SCAPES of the CLOTHED FIGURE
It is the clothed figure I find intriguing, for the viewer must conjur the body underneath based solely on the contours and lie of its covering. I become an explorer of the hidden and the revealed. The person is presented as a landscape, rather than a figure in space so that those who take it in become wrapped in it, much as the figure is wrapped in its fabric. It's fascinating to see just how much can be said about someone even when reducing the vocabulary of expression to a choice of clothing and a gesture.
